This is my first money blog post. I started reading pfblogs.org, Fivecentnickel.com, and reading all of the posts on pfblogs and I am starting my own to join everyone else as a cheerleader and get some cheerleaders for myself. My wife and I are around 30 we have 2 kids 17 months and 3 months old. I found that we were nearly living check to check. I did not see many posting who are starting out in getting out of debt. We have just over 14 grand in credit card debt and hospital bills coming yet for the 3 month old (15 days in the NICU).
Some things that I have implemented to try to get out from under this debt. Started putting $10 a week away for Christmas 2006, no credit card debt for next Christmas. I started another $10 a week for vacation/fun, so we can feel good about getting away for a weekend or buying something fun for the family.
I also figured what we spend on groceries, gas and everyday expenses and budgeted $1300 per month. All of these expenses are put on our Chase perfect card and paid off each month. I chalanged my Wife and myself that I would split any savings that expenses come under the budgeted amout. 50% to the vacation fund, 50% to paying off debt. Our March Chase bill is nearly ready and it looks like we will be $100 under the budget, YEAH!! That month we had some one time medical bills, so that should be some more savings next month.
Thanks everyone for the support.
